I had the privilege of singing our National Anthem during the Medal of Honor Remembrance Ceremony honoring PFC William A. McWhorter, a World War II hero whose extraordinary courage and selfless sacrifice continue to inspire generations.

As a U.S. Air Force veteran, being asked to participate in a ceremony honoring a fellow service member was especially meaningful to me. It was a humbling experience to stand alongside veterans, community leaders, students, volunteers, and citizens who gathered to remember a true American hero.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to American Legion Post 67, Commander Steve Townsend, Mrs. Lara Townsend for serving as Master of Ceremonies, Mayor Andrea Wagner, the Liberty High School Honor Guard, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this beautiful ceremony possible.

It was especially moving to see multiple generations represented throughout the event, from the veterans who have served our nation to members of Liberty High School who participated in the posting and retirement of the colors. Their involvement serves as a powerful reminder that the stories of our nation’s heroes continue to live on.

I was deeply touched to receive a Certificate of Appreciation from American Legion Post 67. While I am grateful for the recognition, the true honor was being entrusted with a small role in preserving the memory and legacy of PFC William A. McWhorter.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped ensure that his sacrifice, and the sacrifices of so many others, are never forgotten.
